This covers the RunTeaming website and the RunTeaming iPhone and Android apps.

The app reads your runs

RunTeaming reads runs from your phone’s health data store — Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android. It reads four things, and only for sessions your phone recorded as a run:

Distance and time produce your score. Heart rate never does — it is only ever used to decide whether a run counts, and it is never shown to anyone or compared between runners.

What it does not read

RunTeaming does not ask for your location and cannot see where you run. It reads no GPS track, no route, and no elevation. It has no location permission of any kind.

There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking in the app or on this site.

Your runs go to the league

A league has to be settled somewhere both teams can see. One phone only knows about its own owner’s running, so it cannot work out who won a week — that happens on our server, at runteaming.com.

When you sign in, each run is sent to the league as measurements: when it started, how long it lasted, how far you went, and the heart rate reading described above. The league scores it there and keeps the result. We store, for each run, the start time, duration, distance, pace, heart rate, the points it earned, and the week it belongs to.

Against your account we store your Google account identifier, your email address, your name, and the figures the league works out about you — your baseline, your handicap, your best run, how many runs you have logged, and which team you are on.

Your team-mates, and the team you play each week, see your name and your score, and behind it the figures it is made of: your best run’s points, your handicap, your average and how many runs you logged that week. They never see a run itself — no distance, pace, time or heart rate.

Beyond that we do not send any of this to anyone else. It is not sold, not shared, and not used for advertising.

Your phone also keeps its own copy so the app still works with no signal. That copy and your sign-in token are excluded from cloud backup.

What we never send

No location, route or elevation data is sent to the league, because the app never reads any. Your score is built from distance and time alone.

The email list

If you joined the earlier email list, we store your email address, signup and confirmation times, and the consent wording version you accepted. We use it for setup guidance, feedback check-ins, and RunTeaming updates.

Your address joins the confirmed list after you confirm it. Unconfirmed entries clear after seven days. Confirmed entries expire after twelve months. You can remove your live entry anytime with the link in RunTeaming emails.

You do not need to join the email list to install RunTeaming. Current installation steps and availability are shown on the iPhone page and Android page. Existing Google Group memberships from the earlier Android program remain subject to Google’s account and privacy controls.

The website stores an essential session cookie to protect the form and short-lived keyed hashes of network addresses to limit abuse. Server access logs may contain network addresses as operational records.

Deleting your data

In the app, open the You page and use Delete my record on your account card. That deletes your runs, your scores, your handicap, your place on a team and your account row — from the league’s server and from your phone, at the same time. It cannot be undone.

The runs your phone or watch recorded are not touched. Those belong to you and remain in Apple Health or Health Connect, where the app only reads them. Removing the source records is done in your phone’s health data store.

Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your phone, but it does not delete your league record. Use Delete my record before uninstalling, or write to info@runteaming.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete it for you.

To be removed from the email list, write to info@runteaming.com and we will delete your address.

Who is responsible

The RunTeaming website and app are operated by WalkTeaming LLC, a Colorado company. It is the party responsible for the data described on this page.
